

Demi Lune Fold Over and Locking Tea Table

Dating to the turn of the 19th/20th century, this is a fine example of a George III design mahogany demi lune shaped fold over tea table. The top has a shaped edge rather than a more common plain half round, it is a solid mahogany construction. The top when opened is double hinged (first to form the full round top and second to allow the front lower half to be raised giving access to the concealed and locked compartment in the apron of the table. The first upper leaf is supported by 1 of the back legs which is on a mahogany hinge and swings out to provide the support. The table stands on 4 elegant legs with a quarter bracket on the top and the sides. The legs circular and tapering and finish with a simple pad foot.
Size: The height is 72 cm, the width when closed is 60 cm and the depth 30cm. When open the table is 60 cm in diameter. The apron/frieze is 9.5 cm deep.
Condition: Excellent, all original and has been lovingly cleaned and polished ready for its next home.
