Mid 19th C. Gilt Bronze plaque Duke of Wellington

This is an original 19th century Bas relief sculpture in solid bronze of Duke of Wellington (May 1769 – 14 September 1852), mounted on a velvet covered panel and framed unglazed in a period mahogany frame. The piece is gilded, it isn't bright gold, the gilding is much more in keeping with its age. Condition is excellent. The plaque is fixed to the back plate by a single slotted screw which sockets to the underside of the plaque.

This plaque was most likely from the later part of his career as a British Statesman rather than specific to his military career albeit this sculpture shows him in full military dress.

Size: Frame 28 cm high by 20cm wide. The image is an oval and is 24cm x 17 cm.
