19th Century Japanese Imari Low Dish

19th Century Japanese Imari Low Dish

£70

This is a nice example of decorated Japanese Imari scallop edge low rise dish (plate), designed as export porcelain from ARITA Japan, in the Imari palette of underglaze blue and red and dating from the late 19th to early 20th century (Meiji). The internal and external decoration is a combination of foliate decor and most likely stylized cherry blossom on the outside.

This is a more naive interpretation of the Japanese Imari decoration, however it is a charming and in lovely condition display piece, or better still to be used,

Condition, there are no faults and it is in undamaged and excellent condition

Size: Diameter is 20 cm (7 3/4 inches)
