19th Century Original Minton Tile 'Swetnam'

An original and great example of a Victorian eight inch Minton decorative tile, this one is part of a series using Louis T Swetnam artwork and showing historical British landmarks. This one is a brown and white transferware tile, the artwork of Swetman depicting village life in the late 19th – early 20th century. This particular scene is depicting the corner of Cowgate, St Mary’s Street, Edinburgh.
This tile is in good antique condition. There is a small flea bite on the right hand bottom corner and the glaze is showing its age.
Measuring 8″x8″ (20cmx20cm), it is marked clearly on the reverse with the Minton China Works backstamps circa 1863-1872.
