£95
A quality ceramic replica of the Pensylvania
This is a small (overall 6 inches high) vintage ceramic replica of the American Liberty Bell, it is well modelled and in excellent undamaged condition with no repairs.
The Liberty Bell is an iconic symbol of the American Independence and is now located in the Liberty Bell Centre in Independence National Historical Park across the street from Independence hall where it originally hung from the building's steeple. The bell was commissioned in 1752 and was cast with the lettering "proclaim LIBERTY throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof" This ceramic representation of the bell features not only the text but the detail of the crack which first appeared after its arrival in Philadelphia, it took another 100 years for the now visible large crack to appear after a century of heavy use.
This bell is iconic, it was used to summon the United States law makers to legislative sessions and alert the people to public meetings, proclamations or civic danger. From its origins , it has continued to be a focus of American liberties into modern history along with american political life, it being a symbol of freedom during the cold war and was a popular site for civil protest during the 1960's.
As a faithful replica of this iconic artefact it is a very positive desktop/ mantelpiece reminder of the value of freedom.
