Rare Staffordshire Thistle and Children Spill Vase
£145
his 19th century (circa 1880) figure group / spill / quill holder is a model we have never seen before and appears to not be offered on the market, at least in recent times. It features an oversized Scottish thistle at the centre being propped up either side by two youths dressed in the Scottish fashion. The enamel decoration is in excellent condition, the most minor rub to the boy's shoe. For the most part it is undecorated to the reverse, with the exception of the thistle head and the childrens' blue tunics and girls skirt. The thistle is the main spill receptacle there is another small hole for a quill in the head of the flower at their feet.
Size: 6 3/4 inches high width is 3 inches and depth 2 1/2 inches.
Condition overall is excellent, no damage nor losses or issues to report.
