Royal Crown Derby Covered Vase Circa 1890

Royal Crown Derby Covered Vase Circa 1890

Price £poa

A 19th century Royal Crown Derby covered vase, pattern number 2553 and shape 513.

Cover and body both stamped and date cypher is for 1890. This is a fine example of Derby porcelain, the pattern is a rich deep blue ground to the neck shoulder and cover with raised and gilded decor. The body has a cream ground with graduating gold over and with finely painted enamel flower design. There are areas raised 'jewel' decoration in the gilding.

This is an interesting vase as its date cypher and back stamp place it as 1890 production, the same year the company obtained Queen Victoria's Royal Warrant and the first year that the company was granted the title 'The Royal Crown Derby Porcelain Company'.
