Early 20th century Art Deco Decanter Set
£150
A good small wine decanter and four glass set dating to the 1930s. Blown glass with hand-painted black and red enamel decoration. We would suggest of bohemian origin and in the Karl Palda manner, it is however unmarked and no catalogue reference found to confirm the maker. It is however a very stylish period set, the glass being a small wine shape rather than the more typical 'shot' and the decanter a squat waisted form. Decoration is extended to the foot rim of each glass and adds an extra white colour to the red and white of the bottle. The decanter stopper is also decorated.
All the glass is in very good condition, a tiny flea bite to the underside of the stopper being the only issue. The decor is delicate and applied to the surface so has slight wear but overall is in good order, no major loss nor issue.
The glass is 65mm diameter at rim , a bowl depth of 40mm and an overall height of 110mm. The decanter is a maximum body diameter of 110mm and an overall height including stopper of 200mm. the set weighs net of packing 700 gms.
