Early 20th Century Baccarat Jewellery Casket
£495
This is a large deeply cut crystal hinged jewellery casket, a faceted hobnail style cut identified as BACCARAT 'DIAMANTS PIERRERIES' which was a french registered design in 1900 although the company may have first introduced it earlier (from the 1880s). This is the clear version, with a brass mount (it can be highly polished, we have simply cleaned rather than over-polish) we date this to around 1910.
This casket is a great example, the hinge is perfect, the stop button is also in place and secure (it stops the cover falling backwards, therefore ensures no stress to the hinge or the mount (the mount is firm and properly attached to the crystal), the ball end, two part, press clasp to the front is also mounted perfectly and closes as it should with a positive engagement and a solid closure. The crystal is also in remarkable undamaged condition, looked all over and not even a flea bite to be found.
The size is : Overall width 135 mm depth 95 mm and height 90 mm (it weighs 0.71 kg)
