Japanese Lacquer and Papier Mache Spectacle Case

A Meiji period (1870) Japanese papier mache and lacquer, gilt decorated, frog mouth spectacle (glasses) case. In lovely condition for a daily use item that is over 140 years old. The Frog Mouth is solid and fits and closes perfectly. The decoration is to one face of the case and in gold and white with black detailing, probably of a garden teaching scene.

Condition is very good, age related wear only and no damage nor failure to the opening mouth.

Size: 16 cm long by 4 cm wide (weight unpacked 27 gms).
