Scottish Silver Mounted Horn Spoon with Whistle
£70
There are certain items which are just a bit different within a given category, this is one such - a late 19th century carved horn spoon with a silver mounted end and an applied shield cartouche. All in all, not unusual, however this one stands out because the end of the silver has been fashioned as a whistle, (we have seen the odd one fashioned with a rattle in the end and they are suggested as being for a child's use, we think this is most likely true of the whistle end as well) for the collector of the unusual this is to be recommended.
Size: 17.5 cm long. Bowl 3.5 cm w
Condition: no damages, the silver mounts are firm, the whistle is in need of a good puff, not the best in the world it has to be said, but still undamaged etc. There are no assay marks but tests as sterling silver.
