Victorian Silver and MOP Fruit Knife

Victorian Silver and MOP Fruit Knife

£55

A good condition Victorian pocket fruit knife, silver blade and mounts, handle is mother of pearl with a single (blank) long oval, cartouche. Dates to 1893, assayed Sheffield and makers mark for Thomas Marples (1864 -1894). Chased detail to the bolster, double pins to the handle covering and a sound spring.

Overall open length 5 1/8th inch (13 cm) blade 2 1/8th inch (5.5 cm).

Condition is very good, good spring and easy close, bolster and handle covers all secure, there is a tiny loss to the tip of one side of the handle mother of pearl, the blade has lost its as new sharpness but still is a good working blade, the tip is, as one would expect, slightly more rounded than it would be after a sharpen it hasn't been broken though which is most common.
