Vintage Harrods Luxury Vanity / Beauty case
£475
A mid century leather vanity travel case sold by the world famous London Knightsbridge store Harrods.
This is, as one would expect, a highest quality, chic, vintage embossed / tooled leather in the form of reptile skin (crocodile/alligator) hard structure beauty / vanity case, with gold plated catches and a shot silk lining, retailed by and purchased from Harrod's, c. 1975. and priced paid then at £350 (in today's value £2950), the original purchase invoice/receipt is still with the case.
The leather exterior is in exceptional first class condition / nearly as new, as is the interior. The interior of the case is lined with shot silk, and has 5 elasticated pockets, 6 bottle straps, a mirror, a clear cellulose base liner repeated in the lid as a half liner behind the bottle straps. The case has 2 original keys. The elasticity of one side of the mirror pocket has lost its grip (it could be easily fixed if one wanted.)
The outside of the case has been engraved in gold with the original owner's initials "JS", underneath the handle. The base of the case has 4 metal stops so it can be put down on any surface without touching the leather on the exterior. the feet are solid and show no signs of use.
It measures: 16" x 11.5" x 5" (inches) and weighs 2.4kgs, it is of a size that would have easily been a weekend case.
