1927 English silver compact / pill box
£95
A simple, sterling silver early form compact, a 2 1/8 inch diameter round hinged box , similar to dressing table powder or pill boxes. Albeit hallmarked for 1927 (Assayed Birmingham), this is in the Edwardian style, including the initial monogram to the lid. The inner lid is mirrored and the base is black celluloid. There are hallmarks to the edge of the lid and the body, the maker's mark is rubbed and can't be deciphered accurately. This is a nice example of this type of compact.
It is in good condition, with no structural issues, a good hinge and a tight closure. It does have a couple of signs of use and age (please see the photos). We always value and price items in accordance with its condition.
Size: 5 1/2 cm diameter 1 1/2 cm high weight 31 gms.
