19th Century Silver and Crystal Spirit Flask
£185
Dated to 1881 this is a large, Victorian crystal glass, traveling spirit flask. London Assay and Hallmarks for Frederic Purnell.
A plain body albeit shaped and polished with a star cut base. The sterling silver top is a 'screw on' with cork lining and attaches directly to the glass thread of the bottle neck. The sterling silver dome top has a period monogram , the dominant letter being E.
This is a handsome piece, one that is much larger than the average 17 cm tall (just under 6 3/4 inches) by 10 cm wide (just under 4 inches) and 4.75 cm deep (just over 1 3/4 inches) and 786 gm (1 lb 12 oz)
The condition is excellent, no damage to either glass or silver, the top screws down well and there is the usual age and usage evident to the inner cork (although it is in very good condition).
