James Dixon and Son, Art Deco, Silver Plated Tea and Coffee Pot

A exceptional quality and design Tea pot and coffee pot, manufactured by James Dixon and Sons of Sheffield, one of the most respected quality manufacturers of silver, plated wares and pewter since the early 19th century. This pair is perfect examples of Art Deco design, probably dates to around 1825. The stepped geometric elements repeated in the body, the stepped handle and the squared pedestal feet.

As to be expected from this manufacturer, the quality of the item is obviously, the base of britania metal affords, weight , smoothness and perfect for electroplating. The depth of plate and high quality polished finish lift this pair above other lesser manufacturers.

Condition is first rate, the insides are clean and ready for use, even the coffee pot still retains its original muslin bag. The handles are as secure as the day they were made , apart from one tiny dink the pots are perfect condition. The wood handle has lightened in colour over the last hundred years but is still undamged in any way., closing the lids is a pleasure, tight fitting and great hinges.

Comprehensive marks on both items, Hunting Horn pictorial with J D & S under, EPBM for electroplate Britania . E884, plus stand alone 4 plus a retailers detail of Payne & Son Oxford and Tunbridge Wells.
